The Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) is a provincial Crown agency with a mandate to develop, implement and manage waste diversion programs in Newfoundland and Labrador, including a Used Beverage Container Recycling Program. A consumer deposit is applied by MMSB at the retail level on all ready-to-drink beverage containers captured under the Program and consumers are eligible for a partial refund of the deposit if they return the used beverage container to an MMSB licensed Green Depot. Green Depots are independently owned and operated "store front" establishments under license to MMSB, each with its own market territory.
Currently, MMSB is seeking written proposals from parties interested in the establishment of a Green Depot on Fogo Island. The current operator has decided not to continue with the business, effective December 31, 2017.
The deadline for the submission of proposals is 4:00 p.m., NDST, Wednesday, October 18, 2017. A copy of the RFP document can be obtained by request. My contact information is below.
