JOB OPPORTUNITY - JOB CREATION PARTNERSHIP (JCP)
The Town of Fogo Island will be hiring for eight (8) positions under the Job Creation Partnership (JCP) Program. This program will last 18 weeks.
Positions will be advertised until filled
- 5 Tourism Customer Service Specialists (Tour Guides)
- 3 Heritage Caretakers (Labourers)
The ideal Tourism Customer Service Specialist candidates have a passion for their community and love to interact with visitors and residents alike. They would have great communication skills, be an independent learner but also be able to work as part of a team and use their time wisely. Candidates will be under the supervision of Museum Coordinators and the Director of Tourism, Culture, and Heritage.
Tourism Customer Service Specialists Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):- Cleaning
- Providing guided tours
- Customer Service
- Tracking relevant local information for visitors (such as wildlife, icebergs, etc.)
- Re-stocking products and promotional material
- Provide any relevant information to visitors
- Assisting in all heritage properties as needed
The ideal Heritage Caretaker candidates appreciate good and honest work that benefits the community. The ideal candidates should have some basic carpentry skills or is willing to learn and able to take direction well. They should be able to work with a team but be able to work independently when safe and necessary while using their time efficiently as possible.
Heritage Caretakers Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Maintenance on Town Properties (Heritage and Tourism)
- Use of own vehicle to arrive at work site and transport materials (at times and non-negotiable)
- Use of power-tools and safety equipment
- General labour
- Waste disposal (mostly work site and office materials, dangerous materials left to Central Waste Management)
- Other relevant duties within the job description
- Assisting in all heritage properties as needed
