The Fogo Island Economic Development Partnership will be hosting a Business Forum June 1st-5th: Making Our Heritage, Our Business.
This Partnership is comprised of the Town of Fogo Island, the Shorefast Foundation and the Fogo Island Co-operative Society Ltd.
This Forum will consist of several workshops and discussions surrounding Fogo Island's economy and the enormous economic potential that it has to offer.
On Thursday, June 2nd, there will be a Business Expo at the Iceberg Arena, Fogo Island Central, featuring a variety of businesses and organizations that can aid in business development.
On Friday, June 3rd, there will be a panel discussion featuring three guest speakers: Jonathon Tourtellot, from the National Geographic Centre for Sustainable Development, Glen Blackwood, Vice-President Marine Institute, Memorial University and Alan Cobb, Director of the Shorefast Foundation.
Saturday, June 4th, the Town of Fogo Island will be celebrating World Ocean's Day at the Marine Interpretation Centre in Seldom. There will be a panel discussion on the fishery that morning, followed by World Ocean's Day celebrations at 1pm.
On Sunday, there will be a general roundtable discussion concerning Fogo Island's economy, followed by closing ceremonies.
