MAINTENANCE WORKER, PUBLIC WORKS
The Town of Fogo Island is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual to join its team and provide professional support and operation of the Town's engineering and public works programs.
This position is responsible for the operation of the Towns street maintenance equipment and work with the Public Works Department. Assigned work may include repairs and standard maintenance procedures to ensure that all water and sewer systems are working correctly. In addition, this position is expected to work in all different weather conditions to snow clear Town roads and any other duties that may arise.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide safe and effective water and sewer services through the operation and maintenance of water supply and sewer pumping systems in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide safe and effective operation of Council equipment for all designated services such as ditching, road maintenance , water and sewer infrastructure , or other related duties.
- Provide emergency roadside repairs as required.
- Provide safe and effective snow clearing and ice control service through the operation of snow clearing and ice control equipment in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
- Other duties related to the position as assigned.
- This full-time position will require the successful candidate to be on-call after normal business hours and weekends.
- Water Operator Level l an asset
- Knowledge of OHS Regulations an asset
- Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to deal with the public in a respectful manner.
- Possession of a valid Class 5, Class 3, and Class 8 driver license.
