Request for Proposal:
Repairs to the F.U. Trading Co. Marine Interpretation Centre Wharf — Seldom

Project Overview and Background

The Town of Fogo Island provides services to the residents of Fogo Island, additionally they are one of many groups that are cultural stewards of Fogo Island. The F.U. Trading Co (MIC) wharf is suffering from washout as its decades old ballast has deteriorated. It is important for this wharf to be accessible for public events, as well as for boaters during the tourism season. The washout is causing sink holes to form on the edge of the boardwalk causing the wharf to tilt upwards, which poses a safety risk.

Project Goals

Address the stability issues of the wharf that have been brought upon by the washout and lack of ballast. Additionally, we hope to address these issues in a manner that assures the structure will be sound long-term as this dock is used each summer by visiting boats. Boaters must have confidence in the structure.

Timeline

The Town of Fogo Island would like to see this project completed during Spring-Summer 2019, ideally April-July 2019 in order to be ready to accept visitors in the July-August 2019 peak season. However, we are open to working with other timelines.
