CANADA SUMMER JOBS
The Town of Fogo Island will be hiring for four (4) positions under the Canada Summer Jobs program. These positions last for approximately 8 weeks (tentatively end date August 28th, 2019).
1 Visitor Services Coordinator for the Visitor Information Centre (Primary worksite)
3 Visitor Service Representatives for the Visitor Information Centre (Primary worksite)
Open to youth from 15 - 30 years of age
Visitor Services Coordinator will help lead a team at our local visitor information center. They are responsible for assisting the Student Interpretative Guides with their daily tasks as well keeping everyone on task and working as a team.
Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Cleanliness and cleaning schedule
Keeping members and themselves on-task
Ensuring quality customer service
Stocking and requesting promotional materials (maps, brochures) in the VIC and on the Ferry.
Keeping tabs on and displaying local weather
Passing on information of trails and local businesses to visitors
Using digital resources to have up to date information on wildlife, sea conditions, and icebergs
Enhancing the overall visitor experience through timely and succinct dissemination of information
Processing payment for museum passes, donations and sponsorships for the tourism program
Assisting at additional heritage properties as needed
Visitor Service Representatives will be dealing with visitors on a daily basis, selling museum passes, informing public about our donation system. Works with coordinator to provide the following services below. Throughout the day to day, participants will learn by doing, and improve upon each interaction they have during the summer. By the end of the summer, they will have a firm grasp on multiple types of communication and listening techniques.
